We are pleased to inform you of the latest development regarding export procedures at Nigerian ports. The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has implemented a new export policy effective June 3, 2024, aimed at streamlining export processes and ensuring compliance with regulations.

New Export Policy Update: Mandatory NXP Form and ETO Integration

Key Points of the New Policy:

  1. Mandatory NXP Form: Exporters are now required to complete the Nigeria Export Proceeds (NXP) form before export trucks can access the ports. This form provides crucial information about the goods for export to authorized entities such as the exporter’s bank, Nigeria Customs Services, and Pre-shipment Inspection Agents.

  2. Electronic Call-Up System (ETO) Integration: Export trucks must be booked on the ETO platform, and the NXP form’s application number is a prerequisite for booking and activating these trucks on the platform.

  3. Approval Process: Only export consignments with a validated NXP application number will be processed. Trucks will not be released to the port until the NXP form is in the final stage of approval.

  4. Enhanced Efficiency: The new procedure aims to improve processing at Export Processing Terminals (EPTs). Containers will undergo checks against the NPA, CBN, and NXP portal to ensure final NXP status before leaving the EPTs.

Implementation Details:

  • Exporters must provide a valid NXP number during the export booking process.

  • The NXP status of export containers will be verified automatically before leaving the EPTs.

We believe this policy will enhance efficiency and integrity in the export process, ensuring compliance with national regulations.
