The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has officially launched the Authorised Economic Operators, AEO, programme to enhance trade facilitation and reduce clearance times. Speaking at the event held at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos, Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC, Adewale Adeniyi,

highlighted the crucial role of trust and collaboration in the programme’s success. “This partnership is built on mutual trust between Customs authorities and business entities, offering reciprocal benefits through official recognition of reliable

business partners. Maintaining trusted operator status requires continuous investment in compliance and security measures,” the CGC stated.

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has assured foreign investors that Nigerian Ports are viable and safe for investment. Oyetola said this in a statement in Abuja, signed by Mrs Anastasia Ogbonna, the Ministry’s Director of Informa>on and Public Relations. Oyetola had earlier received a delegation from DP World, owners and operators of the Port of Dubai. Oyetola

reiterated the Federal Government’s readiness to cooperate and welcome investments for the development and management of infrastructure in its port system. According to him, the Federal Government is keen on deepening the private sector.

AfCFTA: Nigeria Envisions Being Maritime Logistics Hub In Africa – NPA

Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), says Nigeria’s vision is to be the maritime logistics hub for sustainable port services in Africa, particularly under the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Dantsoho made this known in Lagos at the Nigerian British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) maritime and logistics sector event. The NPA boss, who was represented by Mr Sheyi Iyawe, General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Planning, NPA, noted that the AfCFTA was viewed by many as a threat to Nigerian

ports. He said that this was because it sought to collapse all trade barriers within the continent. Dantsoho, however, stated that for a seaport to maintain its market position, it should improve its competitive strategy to stay ahead of its rival ports.

Nigeria, Benin Republic Customs Renew Commitments On Bilateral Trade Ties

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Idiroko Command, and its counterpart from the Republic of Benin have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral trade ties and combating trans-border smuggling. Speaking with newsmen in Idiroko, after emerging from the closed-door meeting, said that

the engagement aimed to foster a secure and seamless trade relationship between both countries. According to Shuaibu, customs authorities of the two countries have also pledged to evolve a workable solutions that will enable them jointly tackle the challenges hindering the smooth flow of trade between the

two countries. He pointed out that these formed parts of the resolutions between management of the Ogun 1 Area Command of NCS, Idiroko, led by the Comptroller Shuaibu and head of the Benin Republic Customs Area Controller in Igolo Command, Soglonou Jean-Paul.

Nigeria Customs Service Expands B’Odogwu Platform for Seamless Operations

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is set to expand its modernisation initiative with the nationwide rollout of the B’Odogwu platform, following the successful pilot implementation at the Port Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Area Command. The Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi reaffirmed the service’s commitment to a seamless transition during a stakeholders’ engagement at the Apapa Area Command. While acknowledging initial challenges during the PTML launch, he assured stakeholders that the implementation team was proactive in addressing them.
